Ashlynn walked slowly over the colorful stones that made up the beach. The rocks shifted peacefully under her feet as she strode slowly forward, a soft breeze gently ruffing her long brown hair back, causing t to flutter gently against her back. Ashlynn's hazel brown eyes shifted out to wards the lake, and she smiled a slight smile, the beauty of the lake was dazzling to her, a magnificent beauty. With the sun shining own on it at this angle, it was an unforgettable sight, something that she usually only saw in her dreams. Beautiful. The appearance of the lake had earned that title, with it's necklace of small, smooth rocks framing the glorious blue of the beautiful lake.
Ashlynn smiled, brushing a strand of brown hair behind her ear as she continued walking forward. It almost seemed like a scene from one of her dreams, a thing of fairy tales, something that never seemed to come true. Even she couldn't honestly believe the beauty of the lake, and she almost always had a good concept of everything, almost everything, at least. And yet, it still seemed unbelievable, even to her. She thought softly, allowing a smile to flutter across her pale face as she turned her eyes back to the stones as she began walking on.

SPLASH! Drops of water sprayed out as Jem's body broke the surface. It felt amazing, being surrounded by cool water. Normally, he preferred oceans, but this was unquestionably the cleanest lake he had ever seen. Maybe this new school wasn't all bad. As he rose above the water, he could feel the sun beating on his face. I am definitely going to end up doing this again, he thought to himself until his thoughts were interrupted by the sight of someone else walking along the beach. She wasn't far from him at all and he was surprised he hadn't seen the brunette before jumping in the water like a maniac. He swam toward the shore, gradually revealing more of his wet clothing as he went more and more shallow.
A few feet from the girl he didn't recognize, he spoke.
Hey there. Hope I didn't getcha wet, he said with a grin on his face. He never cared how ridiculous he may have seemed to others. It didn't matter in the least bit. He shook his head in an attempt to dry off his dripping blonde hair. He assumed that he'd quickly be dry at the rate that the sun was shining down directly onto them. He wished he had more time to be at the lake and less to be in classes, stuck inside. He hated being inside, especially on days like this.

Ashlynn mentally cursed herself. This was what day dreaming got her. Speckled with lake water, honestly. But she couldn't just stay inside, it was better to get splashed than to be stuck inside, getting sores on her hands from holding a pencil, and writing too long. Being wet was a much preferred choice, in her opinion, plus, she was by the lake, she almost always felt at peace out here. She still couldn't honestly see how she hadn't noticed the boy around the lake before he had jumped in. But she let it drop. She just hadn't been paying enough attention, that was all. Ashlynn smiled at the boy as he spoke, she didn't quite recognize him, though.
"Hi."
Ashlynn said smiling softly, "I guess you could say you got me a bit wet." She said softly, grinning. Yes, her shirt was a bit speckled with darker highlights of the water that had reached her. She smiled softly. Extending her hand forward slightly, which he could shake if h wished to, "I'm Ashlynn." She said, smiling. She had always loved her name, it had always seemed so elegant, and absolutely royal, in it's own way. She could see why her parents had chosen to name her that quite well. It seemed fitting, not that she could honestly tell, but it was a thought. [/blockquote]

Jem grinned back, happy to see that she wasn't angry. He knew that some people would've flipped out on him. Even if she was annoyed, she kept it internal, which showed that she was polite in his opinion. He laughed a little as he saw the wet spots on her clothes. It was obvious that she was splashed, and saying what he had said was a stupid move. He was surprised that she was even willing to shake his hand.
Hi Ashlynn, I'm Jeremy, he said in a friendly tone while shaking her hand with his dripping one. but I'd prefer Jem. He hated the name Jeremy . Who did he look like, some old British official? He didn't feel like his name described him.He was, however, quite fond of the name Ashlynn. You're new here, too? He came right out and asked, unable to pull in his curiosity.

Ashlynn smiled softly as he shook her hand, she wasn't rude, or anything, nor did she want to appear so, but she shook the water off of her hand with a few flicks of her wrist. She liked swimming and all, absolutely so, she just didn't enjoy that clammy feeling of her hand being wet, very much. It was an odd feeling, some what, and sort of with holding. You couldn't write well with wet hands. Or, at least, if you did, you ended up ruining the paper that you were writing on terribly. And usually, when she was doing her homework, or writing papers, she liked to just get it done and over with. Not have to keep on re-writing her papers because her wet hands drenched them and smudged the pencil to no end. No, she'd end up giving up if that ended up happening.
Ashlynn bobbed her head in a nod when Jeremy said he prefered Jem, it seemed reasonable, not that Jeremy was a extremely common name. Personally, she loved her name, she just didn't like the entitlement that came with it, her mom and dad wanted her to become a piano player, as much as she loved playing for fun, she was sure that it would become dreadfully boring later on. And she wasn't going to make that her permanent job. There was absolutely no way. But, at least it was mostly only her mom. Her dad was more supportive of whatever she wanted to do. "Yeah, I'm new, too."

Ah, another new student. There were lots coming in lately. Jem had a theory that this was partially because of the technology problem overcoming all modern teens. I mean, Stonemont was a good place to send your kid if he or she needed a taste of outdoors. It was a change, but that's what Jeremy liked about the place. He could do things there that he couldn't do anywhere else. He wondered how many kids were dreading it. I thought so, he said with a smile, having chuckled after she shook the water off her hand. I'm usually dry.. just so ya know, he added in a joking tone. He must have made some first impression.
Now she happened to have made a very good one on him. He liked her for some reason. She seemed reserved, but not boring, someone he could enjoy time with even though he was much higher on the obnoxious scale. Maybe having a grounded friend like her would balance him out. Together, they'd form an almost normal person. I'd like to spend more time with you, Ashlynn, he added, If, of course, that's alright with you.

Ashlynn smiled softly as he spoke of usually being dry, chuckling softly. Her hand still felt wet, but at least it wasn't that sort of clammy feeling she got when she played piano in front of an audience, she thought softly. "Well, I usually have my noise stuck in music, and my fingers on the piano keys!" She said brightly. Sure, she enjoyed piano playing enough, but not so much when she was being forced, or at least supposed to play. She enjoyed playing in her down time, but not in public. Very much, at least. Still, the piano had taken the place of her hobby when she was, like, five. So, she was basically stuck with it. But it wasn't a bad thing. It was actually quite relaxing, in fact.
She could guess that she sounded a bit unusual - sure, she was. After all, she was meant to be a piano prodigy. She was supposed to stand out. To look elegant. To be her best. She didn't have many friends at home because her parents almost always had had her practicing her music, repeating and repeating. And either way, out of the house she was always thought of the piano freak. Or was admired too much for her liking. So, yeah, Ashlynn hadn't made many friends. So Ashlynn grinned as Jem spoke, "Of course!" She said cheerfully, a bright smile remaining on her face. It would be good to make knew friends here, she could make it a brand knew start. Even if she still absolutely loved playing the piano.
